Specials……..The entry level cars.
These were available as two or four door cars. The car had very little trim or additional comforts.
Three ventiports (on the side of the bonnet) showed that this was one of the basic models
Specials had split or two piece windscreens
No heater, radio or indicators (had to buy them as an add on)
The four door was a sedan
This basic two door was known as a sedanette and had a steel pillar between the front and back window.
Supers ……….The next step up in price, comfort and features.
These were available in two and four door models (a very small number of convertibles were made). In this price range the two doors were referred to as Rivieras . Rivieras have no central pillar between the windows. "Both windows could roll down to allow a sweeping view of the riviera"
The supers still had three ventiports but more comforts including better quality wool or leather seats. Step on radio station changer, windshield washer, one piece windscreen.
Roadmasters……Top of the range.
These were available as convertibles, estate wagons, two and four door cars.
The two doors were referred to as Riviera
These cars were six inches longer than the specials and supers.
Roadmasters had more chrome on them
Roadmasters had four "ventiports" the holes on the side of the hood. This indicated that they were top of the line and could be easily seen as such.
